My Non Musical Abilities

Pursue your dreams

Playing guitar

I was not forced to stick to the piano lessons I started when I was eight. I regret that immature decision. I have always wished I could play something, but never got around to learning. With having children and working, life becomes too busy to pursue idle dreams. Now that I am retired, I think it is time to indulge myself. It is time to fulfill my secret passion and pick up a guitar. Am I too old to learn? No way.. Just one of many pursuits to follow. Life is good.

About Maggie L R

I want to add colour to my life, I want to take each day and make it my own. I love simple pleasures. A hot cup of coffee in the early morning on the deck watching the dog chase the ball. The expressions on the faces of my grandchildren. I love to explore, to take a road I have never been on and see what unfolds. I love to travel. I love a challenge. I have decided I want to live a long and healthy life so I have challenged myself to get into shape both physically and mentally.

    Aunt M,

My Mum (your older sister) as I am sure you know, sang in church choirs for over 50 years. When she was in her 60s – after raising a family – she decided to learn to play the piano and especially, to further develop her singing talent and skills.

On her 65th birthday, her birthday gift to her family was her wonderful singing performance. At this performance, she sang many of her favourite songs – both secular and religious and sang my Dad’s and Granny’s (your Mum’s) favourite songs. Not sure if you were able to attend but it was a very special event.

One of my sisters recorded her singing, but over the years, this recording was kept in a drawer and almost forgotten, except in our memories. After my Dad died, my brother found this recording tape and made copies for each of his sisters for Christmas. A Christmas gift I will treasure and will pass on to future generations.

For me, my Mum will always be my favourite singer, as she sings from her heart. And when she sings Christian hymns, I can feel the depth of our Savour’s heart and joy.

Sooo, it is never too late to pursue our dreams. And may the joy of pursuing our dreams be a gift that we can pass on to our children and their children…
